Out of fear that this might get too funky/confusing/challenging to articulate here is an outline of some thoughts. I think we some intriguing ideas for approaching this site, just trying to figure out how it plugs in as a consistent methodology to carry across each episode.
-We are approaching sites by theme/thread/episode
-We visit according to a given theme/thread/episode – gathering information that we hope to weave together as a compelling plot
-This plot is then storyboarded conceptually (big themes) and then distilled into a storyboarding of scenes that we scoped from the site visit
-Storyboard of scenes will give us an idea what film can add to a “traditional” process and where it comes up short
-Should we have a script writing phase or is the conceptual storyboard enough?
-Figure out what needs to be shot to tell the story
-The plot for each episode is made into a sexy diagram and we articulate how we want to display this story.
-An episodic video to explain things in a cinematic way
-Obviously some of this is cyclical – scene scoping implies we have to go back and have another visit to shoot the scene
-How can these episodes translate into design?
The big question: how does this assist design? How is it “generative”? Right now its pretty philosophical.
